Bottom line

The XG248Q is the elder version of the older XG258Q.  The XG248Q packs more I/O options and saves on power. The OSD features remains the same between the two units but the XG248Q is more economically priced. XG248Q is one of the better units we’ve seen in the category of monitor with compatible G-Sync but also with FreeSync which is becoming more common by the day. The only downside is the clouding that is quite prominently observed on this unit.

Design

ASUS’s ROG Strix XG248Q is one of the few 240 Hz gaming monitors which supports both, FreeSync and G-Sync and got a 23.8-inch viewable area. Being an ROG Strix unit, the monitor features the signature red and black design language and it comes up with 3 year warranty on manufacturing parts.

The ROG Strix XG248Q 24-inch front side with bezels which are about a centimeter thick on the top and the sides whereas the bottom bezel is slightly thicker than the rest and the bezels comes with a matte finish. Considering the factor of response time the maximum is rated as 8ms and the minimum is rated as 1ms. In color reproduction average delta E observed was 2.62 and the maximum was 19.09. A lot of clouding was noticed at the time switching background to a true black image which is quite prominent while you playing games with dark backgrounds.
